Kastro (Castle)

This lovely beach is situated on the northern tip of the island, under the old medieval city of Skiathos. The combination of a swim in the bluish transparent waters and a visit to the old city of Kastro is a unique experience you must not miss while you are in Skiathos. You can reach Kastro very easily on one of the boats running daily from Skiathos to Kastro. If you decide to get to Kastro by road, bear in mind that the combination of road an dirt - road stops at an hour's walking distance from Kastro. If you are willing to do an hour's walk, it is a worthwile experience.

Lalaria

Lalaria is one of the nicest and most picturesque beaches of Greece and it is situated on the northeastern tip of the island. The northern winds fall with rage on the steep purely white cliffs, towering impressively over the sea. There winds have been creating for millions of years the round, white pebbles called "lalaria" which cover the whole beach.

Lehouni

Right under the monastery of Evagelismos, the visitor sees the beach of Lechouni. According to tradition, it is said that the hero of the Revolution of 1821, Nikotsaras, is buried here. The landscape is rocky with white pebbles on the beach and a wild natural beauty. Near Lechouni there is Megas Yialos, an enchanting piece of coast, almost unknown to many people. If you enjoy visiting unspoilt landscape, untouched by time, don't miss a visit to these two beaches.

Xanemos

It is an area on the northeastern coast of the island with three beaches of unparalleled beauty. They are not sandy but are covered by thick pebbles. The waters are lucid and cool. The view is magnificent since these beaches are located exactly opposite Skopelos. In Xanemos and on the site called Kefala, ruins of a pre-historic settlement have been discovered. There is a canteen offering coffe, drinks and cold snacks. Xanemos is 2.5 km from the city of Skiathos and you can reach it if you take the road leading to the airport. There are hostels, rented rooms and a hotel in the area. There is also public transport from the city of Skiathos.

Megali Ammos

"Megali Ammos" is situated a bit outside the city in the street leading to Koukounaries. You can reach this beach on foot, by car or by bus. You can enjoy the crystal clear waters and the food in its very nice tavernas or the picturesque "ouzeri" (small tavernas serving ouzo and snacks). If you wish, you can stay in the hotels or the hospitable hostels situated there.

Achladies

This beach is 2 km away from the city, of Skiathos. You can reach it on foot, by car, by bus or by boat which runs regularly from Skiathos to Achladies. The beach is of great beauty and fully developed. You can find there good tavernas, hotels and a rich variety of sports facilities.

Kalamaki

Here on the eastern side of cape Kalamaki there are three bays, the most famous of which is the bay of Kanapitsa. The other two are called Sklithri and Tzaneria. You can reach them by road. You will first meet Sklithri which is a small hospitable bay with crystal clear waters. You can enjoy your swim and if you wish, you can have a bite to eat in the picturesque little taverna found there at the end of a fresh and cool ravine of plane-trees. Right after Sklithri, you will find on your way Tzaneria. This is also a friendly bay under the picturesque hotel "Nostos". Here you can enjoy a marvellous swim, a bite to eat it the teverna and some sports. Finally, you will reach the bay of Kanapitsa with the calm waters and the magnificent view, day and night. You have to walk for about 10 minutes from the place where you will park your car or from the bus stop to reach to sea. It is a full - developed beach with excellent tavernas, nice hotels and a rich variety of water sports. A trip to Kalamaki on a moonlit summer night will certainly be an unforgettable experience.

Vromolimnos

On the western tip of the cape of Kalamaki and in front of a dry swamp, there is this beautiful beach with calm, clear waters and marvellous fine sand. It is full of life and a lot of young people gather here. Next to the water, there are tavernas and cafes, a Beach Volley court and water sports facilities. You can reach Vromolimnos by road or by boat leaving from the port of Skiathos.

Kolios

It is a dentelated beach worth visiting not only for its clear waters but also for the many things it has to offer such as nice tavernas, hotels, camping and all water sports facilities, you can reach Kolios by road.

Agia Paraskevi
Clear waters and golden, fine sand. This is the beach of Agia Paraskevi named after the little country church of Agia Paraskevi wich is found there. There are luxury hotels, excellent tavernas, and water sports facilities on this beach. You can reach it by road. Troulos

This beach has been named after the little island found there which looks like a dome (troullos). It is situated on the way to Koukounaries right after the crossing which leads to the monastery of Panagia Eikonistria. You can reach Troullos by road and enjoy a swim in the bluish - green transparent waters under the shade of the pine trees which reach almost the sea water. There are numerous hotels, hostels and tavernas in Troullos.

Koukounaries

This is most famous beach of Skiathos and one of the most widely - known beaches in Europe. It is known as "Chrisi Ammos - Golden Sand" since the sand there is extremely fine and shines under the summer sun. This beach offers the visitors its deep-blue, crystal-clear waters and a unique chance for a rest since the forest of Koukounaries reaches down to the sea. In this forest, there is the lagoon of Strofylia which together with the forest of Koukounaries are a rate aquatic natural reverse. this is protected under the supervision of the Municipality of Skiathos. There is a large variety of hotels, hostels, camping sites, tavernas, restaurants, bars, "ouzeri", and cafes in Koukounaries. You are also able to do the water sports of your choice, or even rent a boat or play tennis in onr of the nearby hotels. The beach of Koukounaries is situated on the southwestern tip of Skiathos. Apart from all the above, the sunset is spectacular there and it is something worth experiencing.

Banana

This bay was originally called Krassa, but later it was named Banana after the nudist beach which used to be there. The pine trees here complete the beautiful landscape in a unique way and the sea shines brilliantly under the blazing sun. If you decide to go to Banana by bus, be prepared to walk for a while from the nearest bus stop. The beach is a meeting place for many young people since it offers water sports facilities, tavernas and cafeterias full of life and action.

Agia Εleni

The bay of Agia Eleni is named after the little country church found there and is dedicated to Saint Helen, opening its arms to the setting of the sun and the west. The sun shines until very late so if you swim there, you will enjoy even its last rays. The crystal - clear bluish waters are inviting and the pine-trees reaching the sea will offer you their refeshing shade under their dense leafage.

Mandraki

In this area there are three magnificent bays: the port of Xerxes, the bay Elia and Angistros. The landscape here changes as we move to the north and it becomes more wild and more impressive. All these three bays are magnificent and impressive since you can see no land. To reach these bays by road, you have to move in deeply through a lovely forest of pine-trees on sandly ground. It is easy to reach the sea on a motor-bike. The natural beauty of the area, the beautiful trip, the crystal-clear sea and the peace and quiet will offer you one of the most enjoyable swims of your life.

Megali Asselinos

It is a bay which opens up to the north and from which no land can be seen. Although it is considered a sandy beach, it does not look like the calm beaches of southern Skiathos. Here the sand is thicker, there are many pebbles and the waters are quite deep and crystal clear. The impressive landscape is magnificent. When there are northern winds, there are waves in the sea and this can make your swim more fun. You can reach Asselinos by road if you go through a piece of dirt road or by boat. After your swim, you can have something to eat or drink in the local taverna which offers a live Greek music program every night. There is also a camping site near the beach.

Kechria

The bay of Kechria and the adjacent bay of Lygaries are situated in the north of the island. The trip there is worthwhile even though a lot of it is on dirt road. You can get there by boat as well. The waters are crystal-clear exposed to the northern winds and the sand is superb. Kechria is situated near the old monastery of Panagia Kechrias. Here you can combine an promising to fascinate you.
